Good Night, Sleep Tight, Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite

Bed bug bites are so itchy. And some people have even stronger allergic reactions to the saliva that a bed bug injects on the skin before it sucks in blood to feed.

Children and adults, alike, are not going to say "good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite," especially if bed bugs are all over your house!

So, how would you know if your house is infested and you can safely say to your family members "good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite?"

Check for bed bug symptoms. Don't assume that the intense scratching that your children do, are from mosquito bites...

-- Skin Symptoms To Note That Indicate A Possible Bed Bug Infestation

For the past few mornings, have you noticed that your child has swollen insect bites at the arms and shoulders? The bites are oval shaped and appear to be in line pattern-like.

Does your child look drowsy? Does it seem that he or she did not have a good night's sleep? It has not been a "good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite" night for your kid. Check his mattress to inspect for bed bugs infestation.

Not everybody reacts to the bed bugs' saliva that is injected into the skin before the blood feeding starts. The saliva contains anesthetics, which prevents pain during piercing of the skin, and anticoagulant to keep the blood from clotting.

But some people, especially the younger ones, react to these natural chemicals. Children feel discomfort in their sleep. Some will be allergic to these natural chemicals.

What are the common allergic reactions?

One is the development of itchy and swollen large wheals (a raised, itchy area of skin), slightly less than a centimeter in size. Thick wheals subside and become red spots that can last for days.

Infection may arise when children scratch these itchy wheals. Children can't control the scratching, especially when bed bug bites are more itchy than mosquitoes or dust mites bites. There are reports that when these wheals get infected due to scratching, bullous (infected blisters) eruptions occur.

Some individuals develop anxiety, stress, and insomnia due to bed bugs infestation. They didn't have a "good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite" type night.

-- Hiding Places of Bed Bugs

People always aspire to have a good night sleep - a night of comfort, a night of uninterrupted sleep, a night of sweet dreams and, especially, a night without mosquitoes, dust mites, and bed bugs.

So, in order to have a "good night, sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite" night, learn the hiding places of bed bugs and exterminate them.

Bed bugs are small, oval-shaped, reddish brown, flat insect that can live in almost any crevice where a warm-blooded mammal usually stays.

Their breeding place are usually in the bedroom and the living room where people sleeps and stay longer than an hour. Bed bugs want to be near to their source of food.

Once you see a single bed bug on your dress, on your comforter or couch, it undoubtedly means that your house is 100% bed bug infested.

Seams of mattresses, head boards, wooden furniture and wooden bedside table are the first few places that you should look at. If you notice a reddish brown stain on these places, you need to look for an exterminator to treat your house for bed bugs. This also means that you most likely will have to throw your bed and your comfy couch away.

Bed bugs can survive for eighteen (18) months, that's 1 1/2 years, without feeding - these are hardy creatures. Bed bugs in your bed foam and springs can escape insecticide.

A single female bed bug survivor can lay 300 eggs and this is means another infestation in your household.
